Paris Hilton began her 23 day sentence at Lynnwood Jail early. The reason for the early arrival was to avoid the paparazzi.

They were arranged to check-in for her jail sentence at 10:30 pm after attending an MTV music award. They did not go to the Lynwood location, but instead checked-in at Men's Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.

She will be in solitary confinement initially. TMZ said that originally they had picked a woman for a cell mate, but this has since changed, she will be in solitary 23 out of 24 hours every day. The one hour she can take a shower, call on the phone and watch TV near her cell.

Hilton was accompanied and escorted by her lawyer, her mother, and her sister, Nikki.

Paris Hilton -- Free Woman

Filed under: Celebrity Justice, Paris Hilton

TMZ has learned that Paris Hilton has not only had her sentence cut short, she is already out of jail!

Unimpeachable sources tell TMZ the deal was sealed yesterday, and that Hilton made her exit early early this morning.

She was originally sentenced to 45 days in jail, but that was reduced to 23. She served a total of three days.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department will hold a news conference in an hour to discuss what went down.

Paris Hilton out of jail

Story Highlights
• NEW: Paris Hilton under house arrest, will wear ankle bracelet
• NEW: "Medical considerations" led to new arrangement
• Hilton served five days in jail, according to spokesman
• "Celebutante" was convicted of violating probation

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Paris Hilton was let out of jail Thursday morning, days after she began serving what was to have been a 45-day sentence for violating probation, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Hilton must wear a monitoring bracelet and remain at her home for another 40 days, said sheriff's department spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Medical considerations "played a part" in the decision to offer Hilton home confinement for the remainder of her sentence, Whitmore said. (Watch Whitmore detail Hilton's dealVideo)

He said privacy rules prohibited him from giving details about the medical issues, but celebrity Web site TMZ.com earlier quoted sources saying Hilton was refusing to eat much of the jail food served her.

Whitmore said that after "extensive consultation with medical personnel" it was decided to offer Hilton "reassignment" to home confinement, which she and her attorneys accepted. (Watch Hilton enter jailVideo)

Part of the deal was that her original sentence of 45 days, which had been reduced to 23 days if she showed good behavior behind bars, would be restored to the full length. Although she reported to the jail just before midnight Sunday and departed in the early hours of Thursday, she was given credit for five days, he said. (Blog: Is this a miscarriage of justice?)

Whitmore said the decision to send Hilton home was made by a panel of officials in the sheriff's department, although the judge who sentenced her was advised of the move.

Hilton was arrested on charges of drunken driving in September.

In January, she pleaded no contest to a charge of alcohol-related reckless driving. She was sentenced to three years' probation and had her license suspended.

In February, she was caught driving on a suspended license, which later was ruled a probation violation.

Hilton entered jail Sunday after attending the MTV Movie Awards, where she answered questions from the press and was the subject of host Sarah Silverman's jokes.

Paris Hilton out of Jail – reassigned to 40 more days of House Arrest

Paris Hilton was in jail for only 5 days, after which she has been put into confined house arrest to complete 45 days of her sentence. The reason given by Steve Whitmore of the L.A. Counties Sherriff’s department said that it was because of Hilton’s medical reasons she has been allowed to finish her sentence in the comfort of her own home.

Doctors and medical personal at the Regional Detention Facility determined that Paris will be assigned to the community based alternative TSO Custody: HEC BAC Program.

Hilton has been fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet to make sure she stays at home. She will need to complete the full 45 day sentence. So far she has served 5 days of her sentence.

IN MY opinion, the public should be up in arms over this.

What an absolute TRAVESTY of justice, it's an outrage, completely unacceptable that daddy's little girl can suffer only 3 days of prison before the Hilton fortune finally buys off enough law enforcement folks to allow her to go home.

I'm SURE she'll learn her lesson about being a scofflaw whilst sitting by the pool a half hour at a time.

You should be angry about this. Why isn't everyone angry?

Lib, OJ got off because LAPD made an attempt to make the evidence point to a chosen suspect instead of following the evidence to the perpetrator. They also did a very lousy job of it.

Given the evidence at the scene, O.J. could not have committed the crime, by himself, if he was even there. He may have hired it done, but he did not do it up close and personal. There truly was insuficient evidence.

Concerning missy Hilton, money, power and influence by daddy goes a long, long way. She obviously does not have enough of a health issue to preclude her social use of alcohol and drugs............

Makes one wonder just what medical conditions are available to buy judges off. Rolling Eyes

I agree with you about Hilton, but I still believe that OJ did it. He likely did it alone too. But wow, don't make me did back in my brain that far...

I remember listening to a lot of that trial on the radio while I was working. It was so strange to see the most popular person for the year 197? being brought up on murder charges.

Paris Hilton attends Court Hearing – Judge to challenge Medical Reason for House Arrest Change

Paris Hilton might still be faced with real time behind bars. It was too easy for her to get out for medical reasons.

On Today show the regular psychiatrist challenges the breakdown diagnosis rumored to be the reason for the reassignment to house arrest. She said that having spent 3 full days in jail wasn’t long enough to cause a major mental illness. She also is concerned that the example is being set for other young women to not be behaving in such a way and glamorizing that being rich and famous will excuse you from following the law.

The sheriff may have used too much authority to change her sentence to house arrest. This could be why the judge has called the hearing; he wanted her to serve the sentence in jail.

Hilton was reported to be ordering cupcakes to be delivered to her home on her first day out on house arrest.

Hilton Ordered Back to Court After All

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Paris Hilton was ordered to appear in court Friday instead of calling in from home, yet another reversal in her twisted path toward serving time on a probation violation.

The decision by Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer was announced by court spokesman Allan Parachini shortly before the start of a hearing that could put the 26-year-old hotel heiress behind bars again for violating probation in a reckless driving case.

"Judge Sauer has instructed the Sheriff's Department to go to Ms. Hilton's residence, pick her up and bring her here. That is happening now," Parachini told reporters outside the courthouse.

Hilton was ordered Thursday to report to court at 9 a.m. Friday and the judge signed an order for deputies to bring her in a sheriff's vehicle from her home.
