Business can save time and money by using Virtual Assistants for all secretarial / administrative assistant tasks. Virtual Assistants are highly skilled and trained, Independent Contractors working from their own offices, often partnering with other businesses to help them succeed.
VA's have their own office equipment, necessary software, detailed skills set, and specific training to handle office management duties and serve as virtual office administrators to their clients.
Virtual Office Administration can be defined by some business owners as total secretarial support that includes everything from typing letters and answering phones to web design, accounting services, and database management. VAs can be the total clerical support from Monday through Friday taking care of your day-to- day tasks so you and your in-house staff have more time to work on the bottom line and grow your business.

How to get a Virtual Assistant Business
The revolution of how businesses operate is an enormous boon to Virtual Assistants. With more businesses moving into an internet based atmosphere, the opportunity for growth as a Virtual Assistant (VA) is exceptional.
Virtual Assistants are modern day Administrative Assistants. Most often a good VA has the skill sets of a traditional administrative assistant with the added benefit of being technically web savvy and often possessing website and graphic design skills, HTML know how and an understanding of search engine optimization and Internet marketing.
However, there are many levels to what type of work you could choose to target as a Virtual Assistant. Many Virtual Assistants provide virtual customer support for clients while others focus entirely on data entry work. The options are diverse and plentiful.

Essentials for Mastering Your Filing System
As a small or home-based business owner, you need to be able to operate from your desk quickly and easily. Though setting up a filing system sounds difficult, it is a relatively easy task that can be made easier by a few tips and tricks.
(1) Sit at your desk for a few minutes and figure out where you will instinctively look for things. I have a drawer to the left of my workstation. When I first set up my desk, I didn’t have anything in it. When I would look for stamps, paperclips or my stapler, it was the first place I would look, even though I knew it was empty. So naturally I put the stamps, paperclips and stapler in that drawer. For me, it was the natural home for those items. Everyone will approach this differently, and what works for me may not work for you. Take a few minutes to sit down at your primary workspace and reach for equipment, supplies and files. That will help you establish the idea spot for those items for you personally.

How to Organize Your Home Business Office Effectively
It can be a real challenge as a work at home parent to maintain an organized home office. Many times, the office or desktop is the last of our worries as we strive to raise our children, support our spouses and run our home-based business. However, keeping up with the clutter and chaos of your office may be just what you need to get you in a working mindset and help you to be more efficient while working.
There a few simple things that you can do on a regular basis that will help to de-stress organizing process:
* Address your home office/desktop chaos in blocks of time. You may need to set aside just a few hours, or you may need an entire day. Decide what will work for you and stick to it. If it’s not possible for you to set aside a block of time, consider using a headset while you are on the phone and be de-cluttering, too!

The Greatest Storm in American History Approaches, Are You Ready?
As Hurricane Wilma nears as the most powerful hurricane in our nation's history and Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita's devastation continues leaving behind catastrophic damage in several coastal states, we see the importance of planning ahead for disaster recovery. Families are displaced, homes destroyed and now comes the task of trying to put the puzzle together and hopefully reunite families with their loved ones. This task will be enormously difficult. However, for those that did plan ahead and prepared a disaster recovery plan, relatives and friends should know exactly where to locate them. If you haven't prepared one for your family, now is the time to do so-before the next disaster hits.
Diana Ennen, co-author of Home Office Recovery Plan: The Disaster Preparedness Guide for Your Home Business was hit by Katrina in South Florida last week along with the other four hurricanes last year. She once again is in the direct route of the storm. She advises, "Being prepared for a hurricane or any natural disaster takes away the stress and anxiety. When timing is critical, I want to focus on the safety of my family, not on taking an inventory of my business, or deciding where I need to go. I also need to know that my family members will know how to find me after the disaster." |

Preparing for the Next Terror Attack -- Are we ready?
Intelligence experts believe that it is only a matter of time before there is another terrorist attack in the U.S. With the recent scares in New York and Baltimore and the deadly terrorist bombings in Bali, Egypt, London and Madrid, these attacks are aimed at striking terror among millions of people. Of rising concerns is the fear that terrorists will use biological chemicals against us. What if this suspicious package contained a deadly chemical, such as smallpox or anthrax, are we ready? It appears not.
A study listed in Archives of Internal Medicine showed 631 doctors, mostly medical residents, were given a test prior to completing an online training course. On the pretest, half the doctors misdiagnosed botulism, 84 percent misdiagnosed plague and a case of routine chickenpox was misdiagnosed as smallpox by 42 percent of the doctors. "We've got a dangerous gap here and we need a much clearer strategic game plan," said Shelley Hearne, executive director of Trust for America's Health, which tracks how well states are prepared for bioterrorism or pandemic. |
