According to their annual report available on their website, in the last fiscal year-ending, SBC spent over two-and-a-half billion dollars were spent on advertising. Version's annual report shows just over two billion was spent. Sprint, nearly a billion. AT&T (who had stripped back their advertising budget) spent just under half a billion.

Many corporations will never see such income amounts in their entire lifetimes, let alone advertising budgets and this begs the question, if a telecom carrier can spend a fortune on advertising, why can't they invest a fraction of that amount to ensure accurate billing to their customers? Because of billing inaccuracies, customers are forced to implement their own call accounting solutions.

Hey Barstow, do you ever have calls that break up? My dad does and we have some theories as to why but we don't know for sure. Just wondering.

no. we haven't experienced that problem.
i would suspect your isp, but that problem is difficult to nail down as your isp will point their finger at your VOIP provider and vice versa.
if he were to swith to another VOIP provider, that would help isolate the problem.

Our ISP is Verizon and he has Vonage. Once he was on a call and our phone rang, and our phone line is the primary for our ISP. Somehow he wants to blame our ISP anyway. I don't completely understand it except his computer runs off the same router that his phone does. Just the computer is backed up by our hardwiring. Whatever, my brain already hurts. Wink Laughing

I have a friend who lives locally. She uses Vonage, and connects to the internet through Charter. We disco at least once every conversation, often more. Drives me nuts.
