|
|
(Best Syndication) Although Patrick Swayze’s doctors say it is doubtful he only has weeks to live, his publicist admits that the actor has pancreatic cancer. Typically the prognosis is poor, and few people survive after 5 years. Researchers have identified several types of pancreatic cancer, and the outcome can depend on the type.
The 55 year old Swayze has stared in many films including “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost”. Swayze has been finishing up a television pilot (The Beast) where he plays a veteran FBI agent assigned a new partner, unaware that he was recruited as a double agent to investigate his activities. His publicist, Annett Wolf dismissed a reports in the National Enquirer that indicated he only had weeks to live.

We have got to spend more than just $6 billion a year on research of all cancers. With all the people who die from the disease, this should take priority in research doctors (all forms). _________________ Bing News - The Best Place To Get Your News

Pancreatic cancer is what got my mom. From diagnosis to death was 5 months. She could have gotten chemo or whatever but chose not to, at that point is was only about quality of life, not quantity. She was 62. _________________ www.FeensToyBox.com

This is, indeed, sad news.
However, Patrick Swayze has spent his life boozing and smoking and forgot to take care of himself.
Pancreatic cancer is supposedly one of the most excruciating cancers of all. I feel sorry for anyone suffering this fate.
BUT... as pointed out by many here...
Life is temporary, and something is going to take all of us out of it.
I hope none of us suffer too much in the process of being evicted from life. _________________ NEED MORE FORUM? Come Visit ME At MINE:

Combination Therapy Kills Pancreatic Cell Tumors In Mice – Clinical Trials Can Proceed Quickly
Fisher
(Best Syndication News) There is new hope for those suffering from Pancreatic Cancer, according to researchers from the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Massey Cancer Center. A combination chemoprevention gene therapy (CGT) involving a dietary agent and a protein have been able to effectively kill established pancreatic tumors.
So far the research has only been done on mice. Chief investigator Paul B. Fisher, Ph.D. says “Our hypothesis was that certain non-toxic dietary agents that had the ability to promote reactive oxygen species (ROS) would break down pancreatic cancer cell resistance to therapy following administration of mda-7/IL-24 and be safe for human use.”

Scientists Find More Genes Associated With Cancer – May Lead To Treatments For All Forms Including Brain and Pancreatic Cancers
(Best Syndication News) Although there are several causes of cancer, researchers today announced major breakthroughs in determining the genetic relationship of the disease. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Research Network sponsored by the National Institute of Health (NIH) is playing a central role in finding the genetic pathways associated with all sorts of cancers.
Research conducted by the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center was published today in the Sept. 5, 2008, issue of Science Express. Research conducted by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute was published in the Journal Nature. Both articles describe their work involved in finding an array of broken, missing, underactive and overactive genes that can lead to cancer.
