The United States has been criticized for the invasion of Iraq by most leaders in the Middle East, but now even UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan says the war has become a “real disaster”. The Bush Administration rebuffed the remarks indicating the Secretary General was wrong.
Annan returned late last week from a two week tour of the region. The Secretary said that "Most of the leaders I spoke to felt the invasion of Iraq and its aftermath has been a real disaster for them. They believe it has destabilized the region. It cannot stay and it cannot leave."
